A picture is worth a thousand words, which will save you a lot of space if you’re a journalist. Spend three days with leading Dallas Morning News journalists and Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalists and learn how to illustrate a story with powerful images. This three day intensive workshop will take high school students behind the scenes at the newspaper and offer new perspectives on how to tell a story.

If selected to participate, you will be given a behind the scenes look at visual storytelling. From hands-on photography workshops to sitting in on meetings with top editors at the Dallas Morning News, this three-day workshop offers a glimpse into the world of visual journalism.

This summer edition of Storytellers Without Borders runs from 10 a.m. — 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 19 through Friday, June 12. Students will use the Dallas Public Library (1515 Young St.) and the Dallas Morning News offices (1954 Commerce St.) as their home bases, but will also rove downtown with cameras alongside photo journalists. Students attend once a week for eight weeks. Application is open to anyone in grades 9–12 who lives in the city of Dallas. The deadline to apply is midnight , Friday, June, 14, 2019. Please note that limited spots are available in this program. Filling out this application in full is the best way to earn a spot in this program.
